NAIS Hong Kong Opens Sixth Form Centre with Three Pathways

Nord Anglia International School Hong Kong has opened a purpose-built Sixth Form Centre in Hung Hom. The centre offers students aged 16 and over a choice between three internationally recognised curriculum pathways: the International Baccalaureate Diploma, British A Levels, and BTEC vocational qualifications.

According to the school, the decision at 16 is not only about picking favourite subjects. It involves working out how a teenager learns best and where they want that learning to take them. Some students prefer to keep their options broad, others are ready to specialise, and some learn best through practical application. The new centre brings all three pathways under one roof to provide this flexibility.

Understanding the Three Pathways

The school outlines the core differences between the programmes. The IB Diploma offers breadth, requiring study across a range of subjects. A Levels allow for greater specialisation in chosen disciplines. BTEC qualifications take a more practical, career-focused approach to learning.

This structure means families are not locked into a single academic route from an early age. The school positions this flexibility as a key reassurance for parents.

Build Independence and Support

The Hung Hom Sixth Form Centre is designed specifically for students in Years 12 and 13. Its facilities are intended to mirror the rhythm of university life, encouraging students to manage their own time and take ownership of their learning.

The campus features state-of-the-art science laboratories for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. It also contains technology-rich classrooms, a modern library with quiet study areas, and communal spaces for collaboration. A fitness suite and a multi-purpose hall that can transform from an art gallery to a performance stage are also part of the design.

Instead of constantly moving between standard classrooms, students have access to custom-designed spaces suited to different ways of working. They can choose a quiet library corner for revision, shared areas for group discussion, specialist labs for practical work, or flexible classrooms for deeper subject study. Subject specialists remain on hand to support students across all three programmes.

Beyond University Offers

While securing university placements is a key outcome, the school states it takes a broader view of Sixth Form education. The goal is to build student confidence, resilience, and curiosity alongside critical thinking, communication, and collaboration skills.
